Medbrook Children's Charity to Sponsor Kids K at 2025 Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars Memorial 5K

By Chris Johnson on April 09, 2025

While race officials for the Derek Hotsinpiller Fallen Stars 5K are busy making sure the 15th anniversary of the event this June is the biggest and best yet, they are also putting things in place to making sure one part of the day, celebrating it’s second year, will also be bigger and better.

A Kids K was introduced for the first time last year, in honor of fallen K9 officers, and it was a smashing success.

The Kids K will take place again on June 7 at Bridgeport City Park following the Fallen Stars 5K. It will once again honor fallen K9 officers and this year Medbrook Children’s Charity will be the sponsor for the Kids K.

“It is such an amazing partnership,” race coordinator Ashley Hotsinpiller said. “I’ve got a couple of friends who are part of the Medbrook Children’s Charity and I’ve gone to their events the past couple of years and they are just awesome people.

“It is such a great partnership for them to sponsor the Kids K. It’s a great alignment with the two coming together. We’re so grateful for them.”
Hotsinpiller said she is confident the partnership with Medbrook Children’s Charity will only help the Kids K continue to grow.

“The Kids K is always going to be dedicated to K9s we have lost in the line of duty,” she said. “Last year we had a great turnout. We want the kids to have fun. We’re a family, we know what it’s like, you want to have activities that are fun for the kids.

“We will have the bubble station again, face painting, and we are going to have a K9 demonstration this year. We are always looking to add things and keep things fresh.”

Registration is open for this year’s event. More information on how to register can be found HERE
