Time Travel: A Sign for an Iconic City Restaurant and a Look at The Bluebird Store in its Old Location

By Dick Duez on August 04, 2019 from History Blog

This is a sign for the now closed Bonanza Family Restaurant that sat right on the border of Clarksburg and Bridgeport with the majority of the property in Clarksburg. The restaurant was operated, as the sign shows, by O'Mara Enterprises. The O'Mara family ran multiple restaurants throughout the area and region and the Bonanza location today is home to the Brickside Bar & Grille that is operated by Patrick O'Mara.
One of the longest fixtures in downtown Clarksburg is The Bluebird Store. Today, it is located in the heart of the downtown on Main Street and is currently undergoing renovations. In this photo from decades ago, it is shown located on Third Street when the business was still owned by the Lopez family.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@frontier.com.
