Time Travel: Two Life-Long City Residents in 1960s on Center Street and a Old-Time Glen Elk Restaurant

By Dick Duez on February 28, 2021 from History Blog

Anyone recognize the two on the right? That would be Shirley Hadorn and her daughter Janet (Hathaway) as they head down Center Street in the mid- to late-1960s. It is likely the pair are heading to Main Street to watch a parade. If you notice the group gathered on the left are in front of a buiding that no longer exists.
This photo, courtesy of Vinnie Oliverio, shows a shot of the olf Jimmie's Restaurant that was situated on North 4th Street in Glen Elk in Clarksburg. Shown, from left, are Alex Julian, restaurant owner Jimmie Oliverio and Mario”Mutt” Oliverio. If anyone has any memories of this restaurant or these men, feel free to comment in the comment section below.

Editor's Note: This ongoing photo feature of pictures from Bridgeport and throughout the Mountain State is part of local historian Richard "Dick" Duez's collection. Duez, the unofficial historian of Bridgeport, would appreciate any scanned photos emailed to him for use here or to include in his ongoing efforts to preserve local history. You can email photos, or let him know how to acquire copies of photos you may have in your possession, to Duez at dick.do@citynet.net.

The building in the first photograph was at one time the office of Doctor John Brannon. At one time Don Trippett tried an arcade type business there and I'm not 100% sure but a guy we all know who just happens have a lot of old photographs stored them there :)
