Antero Foundation Donates $50,000 to Salvation Army to Assist Organization in Purchase of Box Truck

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 08, 2023

The Antero Foundation presented $50,000 to the Salvation Army to support the purchase of a new box truck, the organizations announced Tuesday. This truck is critically needed to assist the Salvation Army Clarksburg Corps’ outreach efforts across the community, especially as they head into the winter season.

“No one should have to worry about where they'll access basic necessities such as food, shelter, or warmth, but these are unfortunate realities. That is why we’re proud to assist in the Salvation Army's purchase of a new box truck, so that it can meet the needs of so many West Virginians,” said Antero Regional Senior Vice President and Antero Foundation Board Member, Kevin Ellis. “Antero is committed to meaningful service to our communities in the best possible way and our partnership with the Salvation Army is reflective of that.”

The box truck will allow the Salvation Army to transport, move, and collect various donations that are distributed across Barbour, Braxton, Doddridge, Gilmer, Harrison, Lewis, Randolph, and Upshur Counties in West Virginia. With a growing footprint each year, the Salvation Army has a record number of requests coming in for food and support for other basic needs. This new truck will expand the Salvation Army’s service operations and enable a safer, more efficient way of connecting with the community.

“We cannot express our gratitude towards Antero enough. With food insecurity becoming more and more prevalent across West Virginia, this truck is coming at a critical time for our community,” said Major Eric Roberts of the Salvation Army. “The Salvation Army is committed to expanding our outreach programs and this is the first step to doing so."
