Bridgeport's Aidan Sparks Recognized as '24 Winner of Frank Loria Memorial Scholarship Academic Award

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on June 10, 2024

Bridgeport’s Aidan C. Sparks has received the 2024 Frank Loria Memorial Scholarship Academic Award which is awarded annually by the Clarksburg Columbian Club as part of the Frank Loria Awards Banquet. The Award is sponsored by David J. Romano of Romano Law Office, LC.

The Awards Banquet was held in March with many attendees and special guest speakers.  Prior to the Banquet, the Scholarship Chairman and Sponsor David J. Romano, arranged for the Applicants’ credentials to be reviewed and assessed for this Year’s recipient.  The recipient was Aidan C. Sparks, a graduating Senior at Bridgeport High School who excelled not only on the gridiron but also in the classroom.

Romano said that all of Applicants were highly qualified, but Sparks was quite an exceptional young man.  Sparks received his $1,000.00 Scholarship and he said the cash would go a long way in helping pay his college expenses for books and other materials needed to begin his college education.

Aidan is the son of Suzann and Joshua Sparks. He is a Senior and a Member of the National Honor Society and the Treasurer of the Key Club at Bridgeport High School and has been part of the Honor Roll every year.  Aidan has been involved in sports all throughout High School.  He participated in football all four years of High School and was a Captain of the football team his Senior Year.  Aidan received the Columbian Club Academic Athlete of the Year Award and the Columbian Club All County Defensive Lineman of the Year Award his Junior Year. Aidan attended Mountaineer Boys State the summer of his Senior Year and also received the West Virginia Army National Guard Leadership Excellence Award.

Through the Key Club and the National Honor Society Aidan has dedicated many hours of his free time to community service including the Sleep in Heavenly Peace Project, the Medbrook Children’s Charity at Pete Dye Golf Course and many other projects.

Aidan plans to continue his academic career at West Virginia University and is undecided as to his course of study but is considering engineering or the medical field.

The Frank Loria Academic Scholarship sponsored by Romano Law Office, LC is presented by the Columbian Club each year at the Loria event.  The Club congratulates Aidan Sparks and his Family for raising a truly accomplished young man.

Editor's Note: David Romano, left, is shown with Bridgeport's Aidan Sparks who is holding his academic honor.
