Christmas Live Nativity Scene Drive-Through is Set for Dec. 10-11 at Middleville Baptist Church in Bridgeport

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on November 24, 2022

Celebrate the Christmas season with a drive through “Bethlehem.” A live nativity will be presented at Middleville Baptist Church, Saturday and Sunday, December 10-11, 2022, from 6-8 p.m. Visitors can drive through, for free, and see the Christmas story of Jesus’ birth, without having to leave their vehicles.

There will be seven Biblical scenes again this year. Each scene has scripture about the event being depicted, from angels, to the inn, to the stable where Jesus is born. There is also a lively market place, where visitors can catch a glimpse of live animals being led through the city streets, children bustling, and a carpenter hard at work. From youngest to oldest, church members dress in costumes and transform themselves into characters, such as Gabriel, the Wise Men, Mary, Joseph, and more.

“What makes our nativity unique is that we’ve been providing this ministry to our community for over two decades,” said Event Coordinator Gina Sharps.  “Families have made this part of their Christmas tradition, and they look forward to it every year.”

This is the 22nd year Middleville Baptist has done the nativity to bring the Christmas story alive, Sharps said. It begins with the events that led up to the birth of Christ.

“It’s a special time for our community and for those of us who participate,” Sharps said. “It’s a wonderful way to take a few minutes to remind ourselves the true reason for the Christmas season. The nativity is the opportunity to be a witness to our community for Christ.”

Middleville Baptist Church is located at 1327 Middleville Road in Bridgeport, approximately one mile off of U.S. Route 50. For more information, contact Gina Sharps at (304)-276-0572 or Jennifer Biller at (304)-669-9993.
