Clarksburg Amp's Rick Springfield Show Scheduled for September 28 is Getting Close to a Sellout Concert

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on September 13, 2024

Rock and roll icon Rick Springfield travels to the Clarksburg Amphitheater for the first time for a late September concert on Saturday the 28th.  With over five decades of success, the Australian brings a resume of hits including “Don’t talk to Strangers” “An affair of the Heart” and of course, “Jesse’s Girl.” Ticket sales have been strong since the announcement and Superintendent of Parks Doug Comer feels that a sellout is within reach.

“When the release of the summer tour came out, many people bought tickets for Scotty McCreery, but the surprise for most of the staff was the interest in Rick Springfield,” said Comer. “We knew based on our research that he can still electrify a crowd and the demand showed as he was the second fastest sell within the first couple weeks of the announcement.”

The long-time rocker expressed a great deal of interest in Clarksburg when contract negotiations were in play.  He has toured in the state before and knew he has an enthusiastic fan base in the tri-county area in particular. And prior to the Amps ticket announcement, his fan club was granted first access and close to 500 tickets were sold. From there on, Comer knew that this could be a hot ticket with less than 3 weeks left before the show.

“That first day sale was eye-opening simply because there has been a want for talent like this,” said Comer. “I am sure that many audience members will be middle-aged adults reliving their childhood listening to Springfield, and that is great. I just want everyone to bring great energy to this show, because I know that he (Springfield) will feed off it.”

The show is nearing a sell out.

Doors open at 6:00 PM and there will be a local band opening with details to follow prior to the show date. The opener normally comes around 7:00 PM and then the Springfield will follow.

Pretty much General Admission seating remains for this concert and tickets can be purchased on the Amp’s webpage at www.clarksburgamp.com or can be purchased day of concert at will call. For more information, please contact Park’s office at 304-624-1655.
