FBI CJIS Division Presents Director's Community Leadership Award to Drug Free Clubs of America

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on February 03, 2017

On Thursday, February 2, 2017, the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division presented the Harrison County Chapter of the Drug Free Clubs of America (DFCA) with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award.  The award was presented by Assistant Director Stephen L. Morris and will took place at the FBI CJIS Division Facility.  Steve Dunham (program coordinator) accepted the award on behalf of the chapter.  The award is given annually to an individual or organization that has contributed significantly to crime, drug, and/or violence prevention in their community.

The DFCA is an innovative way to identify drug free students, reward them for their good choices, and empower them with effective prevention tools.  The Harrison County Chapter of the DFCA was launched in early 2015 at Bridgeport High School and is the first school in the area to participate in the program.
