Harrison County Woman who was Owner, Operator of Beloved Local Restaurant, Doris Moore, Passes at 95

Doris Evelyn Moore, 95, of Salem passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at United Hospital Center. She was born May 5, 1929 in Richwood, WV, daughter of the late William Luther and Gladys Marie Goode Mullens.
 
Doris graduated from Salem High School, Class of 1947. She worked at Maiden Form for 20 plus years, owned and operated Moore’s Restaurant for 30 plus years and retired from Walmart after 18 years. She collected antiques, enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.  
 
Doris is survived by her daughter, Melinda "Lindy" Lou Stevens, Salem; one grandson, Edward “E.G.” Lewis, Salem; one great granddaughter, Brittany Pechart; brother, Keith “Bud” Mullens; several nieces and nephews.
 
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her husband Billy Moore on August 2, 1971; daughter, Elizabeth Anne “Betsy” Moore; one grandson, Adam Moore; one son-in-law, Kenneth D Stevens; five siblings, Donna Mae Fogg, Ivy “Louise” Haney Ferguson Gallup, John “Stanley” Mullens, Jean Stamm and Gladys Hapholt; companion of 20 years, Rex McKenney.
 
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 3:00PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 7:00PM.
