Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council Gives a Technical Okay to $24.1M Doddridge Water Project

The West Virginia Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council announced $3.24 million in funding for sewer and water projects around the state at its meeting on Sept. 6. Details for the projects are listed below.

Cowen Public Service District
The council approved a $1.165 million grant ($165,000 bid overrun) to the Cowen PSD in Webster County for its Upper Glade extension, which will serve 161 homes and the Camp Caesar 4H Camp. This grant, along with funds from the Clean Water State Revolving Fund, Appalachian Regional Commission, United States Department of Agriculture and other funding programs, provide $11.3 million for this project.

Mt. Hope Water Association
The council approved a $1.41 million loan to the Mount Hope Water Association in Upshur County for its water distribution system improvements. This loan, along with funds from Upshur County Commission, provide $1.7 million for the project.

Pea Ridge PSD
The council approved a $665,000 grant ($165,000 bid overrun) to the Pea Ridge PSD in Cabell County for a sewer extension, which will serve 452 homes and businesses along WV Route 2. This grant, along with funds from the CWSRF, the US Economic Development Administration and other funding programs, provide $16.9 million for this project.
 
Other Business
The council also approved technical reviews and requests to pursue funding for an additional seven sewer and water projects. The approval of these reviews and requests helps cities, municipalities and public service districts save taxpayer money and keep their projects moving. The seven projects found to be technically feasible and approved to pursue funding are listed below.
  • City of Belmont in Pleasants County: Sewer system improvements project estimated to cost $3.7 million
  • Town of Elizabeth in Wirt County: Sewer system improvements project estimated to cost $2.7 million
  • Town of Masontown in Preston County: Water system improvements project estimated to cost $1.2 million
  • Ravencliff McGraws Saulsville PSD: Sewer system improvements project in Glen Rogers estimated to cost $7.8 million
  • City of Rowlesburg in Preston County: Sewer system improvements project estimated to cost $11.2 million
  • City of South Charleston in Kanawha County: Replacement of primary electrical distribution system at the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) estimated to cost $5 million
  • Town of West Union in Doddridge County: Water system improvements project including replacement of its water treatment plant (WTP)  estimated to cost $24.1 million
