By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on January 15, 2025
The first name looking to fill one of the three seats on City Council in the upcoming Bridgeport Municipal election is in place. On Tuesday afternoon, incumbent Jason Campbell filed seeking a second four-year term.
The election is June 10, 2025. On the ballot are the position of mayor and three seats on City Council.
“I’m humbled to be able to serve this first four-year term, and I have learned a tremendous amount of knowledge about the City of Bridgeport and its government. Mayor Andy Lang’s leadership is phenomenal, and I’ve learned much from him,” said Campbell. “I’m excited about the challenges of the next four years if elected. There is room for lots of growth and with that growth comes opportunities for advancement for our businesses and citizens.”
If elected to a second term, Campbell said he’ll focus on education, quality of life and safety. He said the city has “a wonderful quality of life,” and hopes to enhance that. Campbell said it might be time for the city to become more actively involved in the school system and continue to build on its recreational success, among other things.
Many may recognize Campbell’s name. He is president of JCFilms Studios, which has shot multiple films under the faith and family genre, including several in Bridgeport. Campbell, who is 54, said the company has shot more than 40 films in Bridgeport and surrounding areas in the last five years.
Campbell, who has lived in the city for seven years now, is married to the former Heather Mudrick. Together, they are raising 10 children in what he described as a “strong blended” family unit.
Campbell is a graduate of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. He has a degree in management.
Along with the Campbell's seat up for being up, so is that of John Wilson and Jon Griffith. Griffith has filed for mayor so there will be at least one new Council member. Mayor Andy Lang's seat is up for election as he is completed the second of his two-allowed terms as mayor.
Filing fee to run is $25 and due at the time of filing. The filing period began Monday, Jan. 13. Candidates have until 4 p.m. on March 10 to file, which is 90 days from the start of the filing period.
