Although appointed at the June 3 meeting of the Bridgeport Planning Commission, city resident Jamie Parker officially took part in his first meeting on Monday, July 8.
Parker replaces Philip Freeman on the planning panel.
The board includes several community members that are appointed, as well as a representative from Bridgeport City Council and the Bridgeport Community Development Director. Parker joins Patrick Jeffers, President Rodney Kidd, Council representative Harry "Hank" M. Murray, Robert "Bob" Greer, Vice President Doug Gray, and Community Development Director Andrea Kerr.
.
Parker, who said he has lived in Bridgeport for three years, is known by many for his work with Community Care of West Virginia. He serves as that agency's general counsel.
"I just had an overall desire to get more involved in the community," said Parker. "I believe my background and expertise lends well the Planning Commission and things they do here."
The Planning Commission meets as needed and that is typically the first Monday of each month. However, the date sometimes will change in order to meet legal publication of public hearing timelines.
