Students, Community Near WVU Campus Warned by University Police Regarding Recent Home Burglary

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on May 21, 2024

According to WDTV, the West Virginia University Police issued a community notice after a recent burglary at a home near the Morgantown downtown campus.

Police responded to a home on Price Street at approximately 5:27 a.m. Sunday morning for a reported burglary in progress.

It is believed two suspects entered the home through an unlocked window, police said. The victim reported waking up and hearing people inside the home talking, and multiple items were reported stolen.

Police searched in and around the home when they arrived but were unable to locate the suspects, according to the notice. However, surveillance video captured both suspects in the area during the time of the burglary.

Officers are actively reviewing information as they work to locate or identify the suspects, they said.

If you have any information about the incident or know the identities of either of the suspects, please call 304-293-2677. Information may be shared anonymously, police said.

In light of the burglary, WVU officials said they are committed to providing a safe campus for the protection of the community and remind students to always lock their windows and doors.

Editor's Note: Image provided by WVU Police is grainy surveillance footage given to the department showing the two suspects.
