Off the Shelf: Adult Winter Reading Program in Motion with Plenty of Programs Left Well into February

By Sharon Saye on January 12, 2022 from Off the Shelf

Needing a little inspiration to get started on those New Year’s resolutions?

The library has you covered! Resolution Kick-START is our 2022 Adult Winter Reading Program. Our Adult Services Coordinator, Angela, designed it to give patrons an opportunity to learn something new and reconnect with the library community. This event began Jan. 3 and runs through Feb. 18. To register as a participant in this program, please visit bplwv.beanstack.org or download the Beanstack app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and search “Bridgeport Public Library” in the app.

The program lineup included Intro to Journaling on Jan. 6 and Crafting a Hollow Book on Jan. 10. Future programs include Japanese Bookbinding on Jan. 13, Ordinary Lives Made Extraordinary: The Social Impact of WWI Talk by Dr. Eric Greisinger on Jan. 19, Crafting an Air Dry Clay Trinket Dish on Jan. 20, Intro to Wire Wrapping on Feb. 3, Crafting a Paint Pen Votive Candle on Feb. 10, Crafting a Paper Flower Frame on Feb. 14, and Intro to Stamp Carving on Feb. 17.

No worries if you’ve missed the first few programs, you’re still eligible to participate in the event. More details about these programs including times, descriptions, and registration are available on our calendar of events on our website, bplwv.org. You’re also welcome to come to the library and pick up a brochure with more information.

Patrons will receive badges in Beanstack for programs they attend as well as books they read during the Adult Winter Reading Program. Beanstack awards readers badges at the 1 book, 2 books, 5 books, and 10 books level.  There are also opportunities to earn additional badges by checking out a Hobby Kit from the library during the challenge period. If 8 badges are earned, patrons are qualified to win a reading journal (while supplies last.) If you have questions about this year’s Adult Winter Reading Program, please contact Angela at aspatafore@bridgeportwv.com

We also have an Adult Spring Reading Challenge in the works called “Into the Wild.” This program will run from March 20th through April 30th so keep your eyes peeled for more details!
