Did you enjoy watching Season 3 Part 1 of Bridgerton as much as I did last month?! Thankfully for us, Part 2 is to be released on June 13, but if you’re like me, you’ll be wanting more even after the season is over. Fear not! The library has many books available for checkout that are similar to the Bridgerton series, which by the way, if you haven’t already read the 8-book Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn, I recommend doing that first!
Queen Charlotte by Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes is the story of a King and Queen meeting for the very first time in 1761 and becoming married within hours. It follows Princess Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz who became Queen Charlotte and King George III and how their marriage and love story changed society.
Earls Trip by Jenny Holiday has been described as “Ted Lasso meets Bridgerton for a 19th-century spin on The Hangover.” This “bromantic comedy” features three Regency-era Earls on their annual trip offering one another unconditional support in everything from Lady problems to family woes.
The Davenports by Krystal Marquis is inspired by the real-life story of the Patterson family. C.R. Patterson was a Black man who escaped slavery to found his own carriage company and elevate himself and his family to new heights in Ohio society. The Davenports is the tale of four determined and passionate young Black women discovering the courage to steer their own path in life and love.
The Gentleman’s Gambit by Evie Dunmore follows bookish Catriona Campbell, who lives for her work at Oxford and her fight for women's suffrage. She dreams of romance, too. What will happen when Elias Khoury wheedles his way into Oxford?
A Lady’s Guide to Scandal by Sophie Irwin begins when Miss Eliza Balfour marries the Earl of Somerset, twenty years her senior. It was the match of the season, even though he was not the husband Eliza wanted. Now, ten years later, Eliza is widowed. Suddenly, she is left titled, rich, and, for the first time in her life, in control of her own future. What scandals could she get up to?
The Benevolent Society of Ill-Mannered Ladies by Alison Goodman follows Lady Augusta Colebrook, "Gus," who is determinedly unmarried, bored by society life, and tired of being dismissed at the age of forty-two and her twin sister, Julia, who is grieving her dead betrothed. They both need a distraction, and one soon presents itself.
