BHS Standout Carter Zuliani Makes It Official with WVU by Signing His National Letter of Intent

Bridgeport High School multi-sport standout Cater Zuliani made it official on Wednesday, signing his National Letter of Intent to play football at West Virginia University.
The signing ceremony took place in front of a crowd of family, friends, coaches and teammates at BHS.
Zuliani received an offer a few weeks ago and knew then that he wanted to join the Mountaineers. He made his official visit on Jan. 26 and announced his commitment later that day.
“That’s the offer I’ve been waiting for my whole football career,” Zuliani said. “It’s something every West Virginia kid dreams of."
Zuliani was a Class AAA First-Team All-State selection as a defensive lineman in 2024 for the state champion Indians. He had 27.5 tackles, 12.5 for a loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles, six pass deflections and a blocked kick.
Zuliani was also a force on offense where he helped BHS lead the state in scoring as a tight end with three catches for 74 yards in addition to being one of the leading blockers for a run game that set school records for rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
Football isn’t the only sport Zuliani excels at. He is currently a starter for the 8-1 boys basketball team and one of the top swimmers for a team that hasn’t lost a meet all season. He will also be part of the track and field team in the spring.
He was a standout at all four sports at Buckhannon-Upshur for three years prior to his arrival at BHS for his senior season and won a state championship in swimming for B-U as part of the 200 freestyle relay team.
But his combination of size, (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) and athleticism make football an ideal fit for competing at the next level.
"I didn’t start football until my freshman year, so I’d say probably my sophomore year when I started getting used to football, I knew my best shot was football because of my size. In basketball, you have point guards my size these days. Playing a big man in high school there would be a lot more I’d have to do to be able to play college basketball."
Initial discussions with the WVU coaching staff have Zuliani potentially being an edge pass rusher for the Mountaineers. But he could end up as tight end and may get on the field on special teams as a freshman.
"Obviously you want to play as a freshman, said Zuliani, who is also a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society. "But you have a lot of work ahead of you, a lot of people you are competing against so if you can get any minutes or even travel with the team it will be a great experience."
