BMS Softball Team Takes 4th in Conference Tourney; Lincoln Middle Mid-Mountain Ten League Champs

The final two games of the Mid-Mountain Ten Conference softball season and championship tournament were played last night. The site was the Buckhannon Upshur Middle School Softball Field. In those two games, the top four seeds were all in action.
 
The first game was for the third place tournament plaque and it featured the third seeded BMS Lady Braves and the Taylor County Lady Knights, the tournament’s number four seed. The Lady Knights left very little doubt as to which team would take home the hardware. The Lady Braves had only one base runner the entire game. TCMS won the game by the score of 14-0.
 
The championship game saw the number one seed Lincoln Lady Wildcats take on the number two seed the Robert L. Bland Lady Patriots. With the score tied at one in the bottom of the third, Lincoln scored five runs and opened up a 6-1 lead. The Lady Patriots cut the lead to 6-4 in the top of the fourth. Lincoln responded with a six spot in the bottom half the fourth for a 12-4 advantage. Robert L. Bland scored a single run in the top of the sixth were held scoreless in the seventh. The final score saw Lincoln winning 12-5.Lin
 
The conference runner-up plaque was presented to the Lady Patriots by their Athletic Director Chelsea Holcomb.
 
The championship plaque was presented to the Lady Wildcats by their Athletic Director Jessica Logar. Lincoln completed their season with a record of 21-0.
 
The BMS Lady Braves thank the BMS administration, Athletic Director Danyelle Schoonmaker, the BMS Boosters organization, scorekeeper Brandi Bell, public address announcer Tom Mellott, walk up music coordinator Sarah Byrd, softball boosters representative Abby Veigel, the parents that helped with field preparation for home games, Assistant Coach Jason Dale, and all the parents for their support throughout the entire 2024 season.
