Cox Places in All Four of Her Events for BHS on Day 2 of State Track and Field Meet in Charleston

Bridgeport High School junior standout Giana Cox placed in all four of her events on Day 2 of the state track and field championship meet on Saturday at Laidley Field in Charleston.
Cox kicked off Saturday by going under 1:00 in the 400 with a time of 59.90 which was good for fifth place.
After running a qualifying time of 12.73 on Friday, Cox ran a 12.71 to finish fifth in the 100 finals.
Cox placed fourth in the 200 with a time of 26.09. Her preliminary time on Friday was 26.03.
In the final event of the meet, Cox teamed with Alea Matthis, Abigale Stewart and Lee Ann Gaskins in the 4x400 and they finished with a fifth-place time of 4:11.60.
Cox accounted for 14 of the BHS girls’ 22.75 points scored at the state meet.
On Friday, Stewart was in a four-way tie for seventh in the high jump and Lyza Halterman placed fourth in the discus.
On Saturday for the BHS boys, Cale Culicerto placed seventh in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.26 and Ryan Jones was fifth in the discus with a throw of 139-11.
On Friday for the BHS boys, Noah Kintz clearing 12-00 to finish tied for sixth in the pole vault. In the shuttles, the team of Culicerto, Parker Blount, Gabe Martin and Cam Martin finished sixth with a time of season-best time of 59.22 and in the 4x800, Sam Dodson, Ethan Smell, Quentin Collier and William Northey placed eighth with a time of 8:22.33.
