Grammy Award Winning Artists with 75 Million Albums Sold Globally, The Commodores, on Way to The Amp

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on April 12, 2024

City Parks of Clarksburg has just announced Grammy-Award Winner The Commodores, is set to perform at the Clarksburg Amphitheater on Saturday, August 3 2024 as part of the Park’s Summer Concert Series.?

One of the greatest Motown and R&B / funk artists of all time, The Commodores have influenced both artists young and old and in all genres with their classic songs. The Commodores brand is bigger than ever as they continue to blaze trails all over the world. Don’t miss your chance to feature one of the most successful vocal groups of all time as The Commodores continue to thrill audiences with their Greatest Hits Tour – Live!

In 1968 the group was formed while all the members were in college at Tuskegee Institute. After being discovered by Berry Gordy, the Commodores went on to sell over 60 million records for Motown. With hits like “Machine Gun” and “Sail On”, the Commodores became proven artists. For five decades, the Commodores have remained a force in the music industry. The Commodores aren’t just any group. They have staying power. Just like their hit song "Brick House," the Commodores have created a foundation that just won’t budge.

Unlike many other groups, the Commodores haven’t rested on their early hits. Quite the contrary, the Commodores have continued to put out quality work. The Commodores want you to know, despite a string of monster hits and massive tours in the late ’70s and early 80’s, won their first Grammy Award for the multi-platinum smash single and LP “Night Shift” in 1986. Most of all, they want you to know that the Commodores are alive and well in the new millennium, with their own label, and six new albums in stores.

“We are ready to get some R&B/pop to the Amp, and I can’t think of a better group to bring it. They have produced hits, Grammys, and are legends of Motown,” Trevor DeVaul, Recreation Coordinator of Parks, said.

Tickets for the event will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday April 19, 2024. Presale for The Commodores will begin at 10 a.m. Monday April 15, 2024, and will require a password to access the tickets. Tickets will be available by visiting www.ClarksburgAMP.com or by calling 866.973.9610.

Advance tickets will be $50 for general admission, $60 for reserved seating and $65 for premium seating, which will include the first 7 rows from the stage.

Day-of-Show tickets will increase $5 for each section and will be available at the venue unless they sell out prior to the event. For more information and future announcements about upcoming events, be sure to visit www.ClarksburgAMP.com or call 304.624.1655.
