Book Talk by John Wickline

West Virginia author and Clarksburg resident John Wickline will present a Book Talk in the Kinley Cafe at the Harrison County Senior Center (HCSC) on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. HCSC is located at 500 W Main Street in Clarksburg. The Book Talk featuring his book "A Short Summer: The Story of the Ill-Fated West Virginia Baseball League in 1910" is free and open to the public.

Wickline posted the following description of his book on the Short Summer Facebook page: The West Virginia Baseball League featured four teams separated by mountains, not miles and it made for some fierce rivalries among the fans. The book chronicles this small-town minor league, one which had a novel approach but somehow fell short of expectations. The Book Talk is hosted by the HCSC Book Club and co-sponsored by HCSC and the Cultural Foundation of Harrison County. "John's book talk will complete a series of Book Talks in the Cafe by West Virginia authors that have been hosted by the HCSC Book Club," stated Book Club facilitator and Board Vice President Bill O'Field. "The Book Club is extremely grateful to the Senior Center and the Cultural Foundation of Harrison County for their support of this fascinating series of presentations by wonderfully talented West Virginia authors." For more information on the Book Talk, contact Bill O'Field at (304) 623-6795.
