Bridgeport Little League Moves Into State Championship Game

By Michael Minnich on July 24, 2026

Bridgeport Little League scored in every inning and Owen Goodwin threw a complete-game no-hitter to defeat Jefferson, 9-1, in the semifinals of the West Virginia Little League 10-12-year-old state tournament in Barboursville on Thursday night.

Goodwin needed only 58 pitches to navigate the Jefferson lineup over six frames, stirking out four, walking none and allowing an unearned run in the sixth.

Bridgeport took the lead for good with a run in the top of the first, then added two runs in the second, one each in the third and fourth, three more in the fifth and one more in the sixth.

Jacob Gissy homered, scoring two runs and driving in two more, and Asher Sims, Gabe Devono, Julian Belcastro and Luka Dearing all doubled.

Sims drove in two runs in a 1-for-2 showing with a run and Dearing and Brock Thompson each added an RBI.

The state championship game is Friday against Shady Spring at 6 p.m., with the victor advancing to represent West Virginia in the Southeast Region tournament, which begins August 4 in Warner Robins, Ga., with the champion moving on to Williamsport and the Little League World Series.
