City Police Arrest, Charge Man with Malicious Assault

According to WDTV, a man has been arrested in Harrison County after police say he tied a woman’s hands and feet, anchored her to a five-gallon bucket and repeatedly struck her with an aluminum baseball bat.
Charles Pearcy IV, 49, is charged with malicious assault, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.
Deputies said they spoke with the victim, who reported she was hit with a baseball bat, punched and threatened by Pearcy, according to court documents. Authorities said the victim had two black eyes and numerous bruises and marks across her body.
The woman told investigators the assault happened early June 25 after an argument at the residence. She said that after she walked in the front door carrying a pink aluminum baseball bat for protection, Pearcy approached her and punched her multiple times, knocking her to the ground.
Police said the victim reported Pearcy later tied her hands and feet, anchored her to a five-gallon bucket of tools for about 30 minutes, and continued hitting her with the bat. The report said she was struck more than 10 times and he threatened to paralyse her, catch her on fire and “pulverize” her legs.
Investigators also noted Pearcy is already out on bond in a case involving an alleged stabbing with a pair of scissors.
Pearcy is being held at the North Central Regional Jail. Bond was set at $100,000.
