Clarksburg Police Department Warns of Local Scam

FROM THE CLAKSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT
Scammers have recently been calling and presenting themselves as a representative or agent on behalf of the City of Clarksburg and the Clarksburg Police Department using the phone number 304-624-1624.
If you receive these calls do not give them any personal information and hang up. Law enforcement will never ask you to move money or make payments via wire transfer, cryptocurrency, gift cards or prepaid cards. If you are unsure call the police department.
Keep in mind documents can be forged and made to look authentic or real. Always verify through trusted channels.
Do not click on links or download attachments from unknown sources via email.
Trust your instincts, if something feels wrong or too good to be true, it probably is.
