He played against Bridgeport High School in the 1980s. And he has coached against the Indians for decades.
All of those games coaches and played by Lincoln girls basketball Coach Rob Hawkins has happened while he has been either a student or coach at Lincoln High School. On Saturday, January 30, in a victory over Greenbrier West, a milestone built on his consistency and leadership.
Hawkins, who has coached the Cougars boys and girls teams, collected his 400th career victory at the Shinnston school. Of that total, 240 have come from coaching the girls, while the remaining 160 have occurred during his time as the boys coach. Hawkins is currently coaching the girls program.
For nearly three decades (27 years to be exact), Hawkins has manned the sidelines. He began in the 1999-200 season with the boys. In 2010 until today, he has served as the coach of the girls.
Hawkins is a graduate of Fairmont State College.
