Harrison County Sheriff Robert Matheny released additional information on a single-vehicle accident that took place Thursday, Feb. 16, in the Salem area.
The call came into the Harrison County 911 center at 12:02 p.m. The call was located at Sycamore Road in Salem.
Initial reports had the responding agencies along with the Sheriff’s Department as the Clarksburg Police Department, Harrison County EMS, Reynoldsville Fire Department, and the Stonewood Fire Department Also called to the scene was the West Virginia Medical Examiner.
Matheny was able to confirm that, as suspected due to the Medical Examiner’s arrival, there was a fatality at the scene of the accident. The accident involved the vehicle in question on the scene crashing into a tree resulting in heavy front end damage.
According to Matheny, the individual killed was a 27-year-old male. The man in question was a resident of Clarksburg.
