Motorcycle Accident on July 4 Requires Medical Flight

Officials with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department confirmed that shortly after 6 p.m. (6:12 p.m.) on July 4 they responded to a single 
motorcylce accident on U.S. Route 33 East near Middle Mountain.

According to a press release from the department, deputies arrived on scene and found Stephen Blackburn had lost control of his 2005 Kawasaki ZG1000 motorcycle and ran it into a ditch, which then struck the embankment. The incident caused the motorcycle to come back onto the roadway where it eventually came to rest.
Although the extent of the injuries was listed as unknown in the information provided, a landing zone was put in place to allow for a medical flight. The zone was placed at the Faulkner intersection.
Joining the Sheriff's Department at the scene were the Randolph County EMS, Harman Volunteer Fire Department, Whitmer Volunteer Fire Department, and Elkins Fire Department.
