Jamison-Reppert Golf Tournament Schedules Date for 26th Annual Event at the Bridgeport Country Club

By Jeff Toquinto on May 09, 2023

For the third straight year, the annual Jamison-Reppert Golf Classic in honor of the late Coach Wayne Jamison and late educator Mary A. Reppert will not be interrupted by COVID-19. In 2020, what would have been the 24th annual event was scrapped due to the virus.

In 2021, however, it made a return to the Bridgeport Country Club and did the same in 2022. Now, with the COVID emergency ending, the 26th annual event will take place this year.

Officials involved with the event have announced it will be held in June. The funds raised from the event will once again be used to award a pair of scholarships to football players in recognition of Jamison and Reppert.

The date for the tournament is June 15 at the Bridgeport Country Club. It will have an 11 a.m. registration start and the 1 p.m. shotgun start.

The tournament will also feature the highly talked about steak dinner after the golfing portion is over. The dinner features steaks from Young & Stout and will be held inside the BCC.

“We’ll be golfing, and we’ll have the steak dinner afterwards,” said “The Voice of the Indians” Travis Jones, who helps lead the annual event.

For those wanting to get back on the links, the cost is $500 for a foursome, or $125 per person. Jones said there is usually 70 to 80 golfers that come back on an annual basis and usually 10 to 15 more that show up occasionally.

“If we have our usual turnout, we typically sell out. We do accept some walk ups, but we try to limit the field to 25 teams,” said Jones. “We never want to turn anyone away, but I do advise registering in advance to make sure you are in the field.”

The field is already filling up.

There are also $100 hole sponsorships available. The event will feature a silent auction and there will be $100 hole sponsorships, as well as mulligans for purchase and other “typical fare,” according to Jones.

The reason for the tournament is to have fun. The goal of the tournament is to raise money for scholarships in Jamison’s and Reppert’s names. The scholarships honor the memory of the four-time state championship coach in Jamison and also Reppert, a long-time educator at the school beloved by her students who was passionate about the football program. Proceeds also benefit Bridgeport football.

The scholarships awarded last year were $1,500 to two senior football players.

Individuals are encouraged to register now as well as to secure hole sponsorships. To do so, or to get more information about the tournament, or to register call Jones at 304-625-1420. Registration forms can be found on bridgeportindiansfootball.com, or by clicking HERE.
