Bridgeport High School Students Participate in Annual FFA Day at West Virginia Legislature in Chareleston

By Connect-Bridgeport Staff on March 15, 2025

Recently, nine Bridgeport High School FFA (Future Farmers of America) members traveled to the annual FFA day at the legislature in Charleston.

The day started with advocacy training with the West Virginia Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers. Through this training, students learned about the legislative process and how their voice can make an impact in the world around them.

Next students attended session in the house of delegates where they were recognized as honored guests by Harrison County Delegate Laura Kimble. Students then spent the afternoon visiting with Senator Ben Queen, Senator Craig Hart, and Senate President Randy Smith.

To round out the evening, students attended the taste of WV banquet, a celebration of West Virginia agriculture through a meal catered by West Virginia farmers and producers. Students dined with Delegates Kimble and Mazzocchi.

Bridgeport students also were able to meet Governor Patrick Morrisey.

Editor's Note: Students are, from left, Maya Woofter, Payton Evans, Abby Oldaker, Micah Barnette, Kaedan Cox, Gracie Burdette, Bryanna Fisher, Anna Grajales, and Zach Nicholson. In bottom photo, students are showing talking with Bridgeport resident and State Senator Ben Queen.
