Earlier this month, March 1 to be exact, was a big day for long-time Bridgeport business owner Dr. Jessica Orrahood.
It was on that day that Orrahood’s business, Senior Audiology, celebrated its 30-year anniversary. While she is still thrilled to be doing business for three decades and counting, she also had to dispel a rumor.
Senior Audiology is not closing. She said she has no plans on stepping away from her Main Street business anytime soon.
In fact, the business has been around long enough that one of the largest figures in Bridgeport’s history, the late Carl Furbee was on hand for the ribbon-cutting event. Furbee, the former mayor and businessman, has his fingerprints all over the growth of the city years after his passing and was actually a previous owner of the building where Senior Audiology exists.
“It feels like just yesterday we cut the ribbon with then mayor Carl Furbee,” said Orrahood. “It’s hard to believe it's been 30 years.”
The business is situated in the heart of the downtown. It is located at 132 West Main Street on the same side of the Street as the Dairy Queen and between it and the Bridgeport Fire Department. It has provided, and continued to provide, evaluation of hearing loss and other audiology services. The lifelong resident’s business has been constant for the residents of Bridgeport and beyond.
“I am grateful for each of my patients and still look forward to taking care of them each day,” said Orrahood. “I am so thankful for all of my blessings. God is good.”
Senior Audiology, which has been in the same location for all 30 years, can be reached at 304-842-9229. Orrahood is still taking on patients and invites you to make an appointment.
