The Market Place at Bridgeport Adds to its Business List as First Restaurant Opens Doors on Premises

By Jeff Toquinto on February 04, 2018

One of Bridgeport’s newest developments has its first restaurant open. Earlier this month, The Market Place at Bridgeport, which is located off Jerry Dove Drive, saw Don Patron open its doors.

The Mexican restaurant is one of three businesses already open at the development. It is the first dining establishment, but not the first for Don Patron.

According to Jose Solis, the manager of the new store, Don Patron has three other locations in the region. They are situated in Morgantown, Weston and Elkins.

Solis said things started off slowly at the new location. However, he said there has been a steady increase in traffic and last weekend so a steady flow of customers.

“The first week was slow and we think a lot of it had to do with this being a new plaza with just a few businesses, but things have been picking up,” said Solis. “They were much better (last) weekend. Friday and Saturday (of last week) we saw a good pickup.”

Don Patron offers a wide variety of dining options including fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, salads, soups, desserts, kids’ meals, vegetarian options and numerous dinner options. There is also a lunch menu that runs from 11-2:30 p.m.

The restaurant also features a bar where patrons can sit for a drink or eat their mull. The bar is fully stocked with legal beverages of your choice.

“One thing we’re looking forward to see being used is our patio,” said Solis. “We’ll have an outdoor area once it gets warmer.”

Solis is hoping their business will be one of many that has opened in this part of the Jerry Dove Drive Corridor that will see success.

“It’s a nice area and we’ve met a lot of nice people,” said Solis. “On this side of Bridgeport there is a lot of development and a lot of future development so you’ll see more and more people. We hope the community, including the workers in this area from UHC, the offices and White Oaks and Charles Pointe and the FBI, give us a try. We’re here for the entire area.”

The store is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Sundays, they are open from noon until 9 p.m. Take out is available by calling 304-842-9474.
