Off the Shelf: Fall is in the Air and the Library Has Plenty of Books to Help Bring in the New Season

By Savanna Draper on September 18, 2024 from Off the Shelf

Do you know the significance of Sunday, September 22 this year?

It’s the first day of fall!

I know it comes as a relief to some after the long, hot summer we’ve had. According to multiple sources and surveys nationwide, fall is most people’s favorite season by far. With the crisp mornings, beautiful foliage, fun holidays, and pumpkin-flavored everything, who can blame them for favoring this great season? If you are one of the many people who rank fall above the other seasons, keep reading for some books that will give you all the fall feelings.

Picture Perfect Autumnby Shelley Noble takes place in a Gothic Rhode Island beach house during fall where photographer Dani Campbell stumbles upon some secrets involving the reclusive Lawrence Sinclair and his estranged grandson. As they are brought together by fortune, fate, and the ties that bind, all three embark on journeys of discovery and love.

First Frostby Sarah Addison Allen is set in Bascom, North Carolina in October. As temperatures drop and leaves begin to turn, the Waverley women are made restless by the whims of their mischievous apple tree and all the magic that swirls around it while waiting for the First Frost. Will the First Frost prove fruitful for them?

The Café Between Pumpkin and Pieby Marina Adair, Kate Angell, and Stacy Finz takes place in Moonbright, Maine, where there's a pumpkin on every porch, freshly brewed apple cider in every cup, and sorcery in the air. This book is described as being as warm and frothy as a spiced pumpkin latte on a crisp autumn day as it follows three magical storylines.

Pumpkin Spice Puppyby Laurien Berenson is set in Connecticut in the fall and follows sleuth Melanie Travis. When the owner of a local pet supply shop is found murdered, Melanie and her pedigree poodles are on the case.

Find all of these fall reads and more at the Bridgeport Public Library or on the web at www.bplwv.org/read-next.
