Off the Shelf: March Down to Bridgeport Public Library in Month of March for Dozens of Programs for All

By Savanna Draper on February 28, 2024 from Off the Shelf

As we head into March, “march” on down to the library to attend a program! This March we are offering nearly 50 programs and events for all ages including children, teens, families, and adults. We strive to provide something for everyone’s interests. Also coming in March are our new seasonal brochures, which will cover three months’ worth of programs and events at a time, so be sure to pick one up the next time you’re in the library.

For children, teens, and families this month we have quite a few new programs along with some old favorites. Join us every Tuesday at 3pm for all ages Chess Club, every Wednesday at 12pm for our Brilliant Beginnings storytime, and every Thursday at 3pm for our Little Learners storytime. New this month (beginning March 11) join us every Monday at 11am for Juicebox Social, which is an opportunity for children and parents to socialize with each other and enjoy refreshments.

On March 13 at 3 p.m., we will be using our 3D pens to create 3D doodles. Due to popularity, there is a second offering of this program later in the month. On March 15 at 4 p.m., we will be making Easter themed objects on our 3D printer. On March 16 you are invited to “Switch” it up while playing games on our Nintendo Switch at 11am and then to stick around for Building Club at 12:30pm. We will host a Family Game Night on March 21 at 5:30pm, which promises to be a fun time. On March 22 at 5pm we will host a movie night that will be intended for all ages and refreshments will be provided. Specifically for teens, join us for T.A.G. (Teen Afternoon Gaming) on March 27 at 3pm and on March 28 at 5pm for Anime & Manga Café.

Adults can look forward to an eventful March as well. Every Monday, you can join us for our PBS Masterpiece Theater discussion group Tea & Talk at 1pm, and every Wednesday, you can join us for our handicraft group, Hooks & Needles at 11am. Join us on March 4 at 5pm as our monthly crochet class crochets a shamrock. Due to popularity, there is another offering of this class later in the month. On March 5 at 5:30pm, our monthly writing group, The Write Connection, will meet. The first two Thursdays of the month, March 7 and March 14, join us for Philosophy Club at 1pm which is an hour given over to the discussion of a variety of topics.

Our monthly painting group, Brush Hour, will meet at 5:30pm on March 11. You have two opportunities to attend our Tech Savvy classes this month, on March 12 at 5pm and again on March 13 at 1pm. Signing Made Easy, our American Sign Language class, will meet on March 19 at 5pm. This class is appropriate for all ages. The Small Business Development Center will host a workshop on building credit for small businesses on March 20 at 5pm. We have invited local author Pete Taylor for a book signing on March 25 at 5pm. If you have an interest in genealogy, join us on March 27 at 5pm for our Genealogy Roundtable.

There is even more in store on our online events calendar! Visit our website at bplwv.org/events to see a full list of March events. Most events do require registration.
