Off the Shelf: No Shortage of Holiday Fun at Library as More than 40 Programs Scheduled in December

By Savanna Draper on November 29, 2023 from Off the Shelf

December is always a fun, special time at the library! This month, we are offering over 40 programs for children, teens, families, and adults, with no shortage of holiday fun. As the weather outside turns frightful, come to the library where you are sure to have a delightful time!

Children, teens, and families are not going to want to miss all that is in store for them this month! Beginning in December, we will be offering two weekly storytimes, Brilliant Beginnings which is appropriate for children ages birth to two years and Little Learners which is geared toward ages three to five. Brilliant Beginnings will be every Wednesday at 12pm and Little Learners will be held each Thursday at 3pm. On December 1 at 5pm, join us for Family Movie Night where we will be showing The Polar Express. Hot chocolate and light refreshments will be provided. A new program, Tinker Cadets, will be making holiday ornaments using our 3D printer on December 4 at 4pm.

Come meet Santa, grab a photo, and enjoy cookies provided by the Woman’s Club on December 8 at 3pm! Our arts and crafts program, Creativity Corner will be creating holiday trees on December 11 at 4pm. Help us welcome the Bridgeport High School Jazz Ensemble as they play a winter performance at the library on December 12 at 5:30pm. We will break out the 3D pens for 3D Doodles on December 13 at 3pm.

Due to popularity, a second session will be offered later in the month. In collaboration with City of Bridgeport Parks & Recreation and StoryWalk, join us for a Candy Cane Stroll on December 16 at 10am at the Bridgeport City Park. For those young people who enjoy coding, attend Code Quest on December 18 at 4pm.

Adults don’t have a shortage of fun either! We are offering our Cricut Crafts program on December 4 at 5pm to create holiday cards. Join us for our monthly writing group, The Write Connection, on December 5 at 5:30pm. Our Tech Savvy program will be offering open tech help on December 6 at 1pm. We will welcome Re:Source Sanctuary and Farm for “Getting into Herbalism” on December 6 at 5pm. Our crochet program will be making an easy garland on December 7 at 3:30pm. Due to popularity, we will be offering a second session later in the month.

Our monthly painting program, Brush Hour, will meet on December 11 at 5:30pm. We will host a matinee showing of The Santa Clause on December 15 at 3pm. Popcorn and drinks will be provided. Signing Made Easy, our American Sign Language class, will meet on December 19 at 5pm. This class is suitable for all ages. Our cross-stitch program, Stabby Stitches will be stitching holly on December 29 at 3:30pm.
