Off the Shelf: Resources, Place to Relax, Study Area, or More, Bridgeport Public Library has Students' Back

By Savanna Draper on August 21, 2024 from Off the Shelf

The Bridgeport Public Library has your back for the back to school season! If you’re looking for resources to help with homework and assignments, need a place to study, or just somewhere to kick back and relax, the library is the place to be. We are looking forward to contributing to the academic success of all students in our community in any way we can!

Regarding resources for homework and other assignments, we have you covered. We offer a wide range of educational resources from Pre-K through the college level. Most notably, TutorWV through Tutor.com provides on-demand tutoring, homework help, test preparation, and writing assistance for students in over 60 subjects. No appointment is necessary! Tutors are available 10 am-10 pm. This resource is provided by the WV Library Commission. Call or email the library to obtain the passcode to use this resource.

If you’re looking to continue building on skills learned in the classroom, you might want to check out Miss Humblebee’s Academy, Scholastic Go, ScienceFlix, TumbleMath, TumbleBooks, and TeenBookCloud. All of these resources offer additional opportunities for students who are looking to take their learning to the next level. The best thing about these resources is that they are all completely free with your Bridgeport Public Library card and they can be accessed at home! All of these resources and more can be found on our website bplwv.org/eresources.

If extra homework help is not what you’re looking for, and you would prefer a nice, relaxing atmosphere where you can destress from the school day, we encourage you to come check us out! We offer free Wi-Fi and plenty of comfortable seating. For teens, enjoy our newly designed Teen Space with activities like coloring pages, Sudoku, crossword puzzles, and our teen art board where you can doodle to your heart’s content.

We know that going back to school can be stressful for some, but the library is there for you every step of the way. We wish everyone the best of luck this school year!
