Off the Shelf: With September at the Front Door, City's Library is Ready with 70 Programs Set for All Ages

By Savanna Draper on August 28, 2024 from Off the Shelf

September is on the way, and even though we are sad to see summer go, we are excited to start this fall off on the right foot by offering 70 programs for children, teens, families, and adults. This September we are starting several new programs, bringing back some old favorites, and keeping with many of our tried-and-true recurring programs. We hope to see you at the library this September!

Recurring programs for children, teens, and families will include Juice Box Social on Mondays at 11am, Chess Club on Tuesdays at 3pm, Tabletop Adventures on Tuesdays at 4pm, Brilliant Beginnings Storytime on Wednesdays at 12pm, Little Learners Storytime on Thursdays at 3pm, and Teen Snackchat on Thursdays at 4pm.

Come play Pokémon with us for Pokémon Adventures on September 5 at 5pm. A new program, Sensory Storytime, specially designed for our autistic and/or ADHD storytime friends will be on September 6 at 3pm. Join us for popcorn and Family Movie Night on September 6 at 5pm. We will be playing our Nintendo Switch for "Switch" It Up on September 7 at 11am, then stick around for Lego Building Club at 12pm.

Creativity Corner will be experimenting with leaf rubbing on September 9 at 4pm. Teen ARTventures will be focused on paper quilling on September 10 at 6pm. Another new program, Stitch Squad, will be stitching granny squares on September 16 at 4pm. 3D Doodles will have a fall theme on September 18 at 3pm. There will be another offering of this program later in the month. An old favorite, Young Wordsmiths, will be returning on September 18 at 4pm. Teens are encouraged to join us for Teen Movie Night on September 19 at 5pm.

Recurring programs for adults will include the Tea & Talk Masterpiece Theater Discussion Group on Mondays at 1pm, Makerspace Open Hours on Mondays at 1pm, and Hooks & Needles on Wednesdays at 11am. Our writing group, The Write Connection will meet on September 3 at 5pm. Join us for Estate Planning: The Essentials, with special guest Claire Sellers on September 4 at 5pm. Philosophy Hour will take place on September 5 at 1pm. Our monthly painting program, Brush Hour, will be on September 9 at 5pm.

Join us for Tech Savvy where we will focus on LinkedIn on September 11 at 1pm. We will have popcorn for a Matinee on September 13 at 1pm. We will host a Puzzle Swap on September 16 at 12pm. If you enjoy being crafty, swing by our Needle Felting class on September 16 at 5pm. Appropriate for all ages, Signing Made Easy will occur on September 17 at 5pm. Our Genealogy Roundtable will be taking a field trip to Hacker's Creek Pioneer Descendants on September 18 at 4pm. A new program, All Abilities Art, will be making friendship bracelets on September 27 at 5pm.

Most of these events require registration. Find all of these and more on our website at bplwv.org/events.
