Sweat & Smiles: Nonnegotiable Status of Working Out

By Melissa Romano on January 26, 2019 from Sweat & Smiles

Working out is hard. It takes time, you sweat, and for it to work you just have to do it forever. It takes dedication, energy, and a list of other things that we generally try to avoid.

So why bother?

I considered talking scientifically about why you should but instead I'll say it like this: not doing it is not an option. And the sooner you let yourself know that working out is nonnegotiable, the better off you'll be.

Regularly working out does a lot more than just change the look of your body; it heals your body, calms your mind and aids your body in performing all of the functions it needs to do to keep you alive. It's like drinking water; your body depends on water to survive. It also depends on you moving. Okay, so I am going to get a little scientific. You are well aware that your body needs oxygen. Well, working out floods your body with oxygen.

You may have heard of your lymphatic system, which is responsible for ridding the body of toxins, waste and other materials. It's primary function is to transport lymph, which is fluid containing infection-fighting white blood cells. You know what gets lymph moving? You do ... by moving yourself.

You see, being healthy is not just about the absence of illness. Being healthy is about vitality. When you are vital and healthy that is when your cup overfloweth. You are so filled with vitality and energy that it is able to overflow into every other person and piece of your life.

Think of yourself has the sun and your family, friends and responsibilities as plants. If you are not taking care of yourself and burn out the effect is devastating to everything you are meant to care for; but when you are vital and healthy, burning as bright as you can then everything else you are caring for will flourish. A regular workout routine is not optional. Putting you first is not selfish, it is essential.

Sweat & Smiles,
Melissa
