UHC Celebrates West Virginia Donor Day Saturday

WVU Medicine United Hospital Center is encouraging the public to participate in West Virginia Donor Day on Saturday, August 1. You can be a part of this incredible movement supporting organ donation. Together, we can make a real difference by spreading the word and encouraging our loved ones—family, friends, neighbors, even coworkers—to sign up as organ donors.
“Right now, 500 West Virginians are waiting for an organ transplant,” said Kara Elko, BSN, RN, director of Critical Care at UHC. “Let’s celebrate WV Donor Day, every day, by signing up as an organ donor and challenging those around us to do the same.”
A single organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people. That’s why WV Donor Day is on August 1—a date that symbolizes the incredible potential to save lives.
“Let’s come together to showcase the compassion and unity that makes West Virginia great and spread the word about organ, eye, and tissue donation,” said Elko. “Please consider signing up today to become a donor at www.dlwv.org."
