Join a Discussion of What's Called "Right to Work"

Area residents who would like to know more about what is referred to as a “Right to Work” law are invited to attend a Concerned Citizen Meeting Monday, Nov. 9, hosted by the North Central West Virginia and Monongalia-Preston Labor Councils. “There’s been discussion among some politicians about what they call a ‘Right to Work’ law, but most West Virginians have not been talking about it, and they don’t understand how such a law might affect them personally,” said Mark Dorsey, President of the Marion County AFL-CIO. “Once people realize that this law legislators are considering touches their own lives and communities, they want to know more.” The nonpartisan meeting, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 6 pm at the Knights of Columbus, 1529 Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont. It will feature a presentation on the proposed law and its impact in other states, as well as a discussion with area legislators. “All working families have a stake in this, so I strongly urge residents to come out and join the conversation,” Dorsey said. Doors will open at 5 pm, when light refreshments will be served.
